About Chombofishing
Introduction:
Living in Hellevoetsluis, it is more than logical to take up the fishing adventure on the Haringvliet. The Haringvliet harbors beautiful predatory fishing, such as perch, zander, pike and predatory fish. It is not for nothing that the WPC has descended here for more than 10 years to hold one of the largest freshwater predatory fishing contests in the world.

Who is fishing guide Nikaj?
Born in 1973 growing up in Africa, I was quickly introduced to fishing as a child. My grandfather and my father were already fond of fishing. 6 Months old this picture was taken of me in Liberia leaning on a tarpon caught by my father. Of course there is a great story behind it, feel free to ask about itu2026
Everywhere I lived I came in contact with fishing. For example, we lived in Rwanda on Lake Kivu and I was out daily catching Tilapias with the locals.
Later when I moved to Hellevoetsluis and our son Senne started talking about fishing I picked up the thread. Once I found out what’s swimming around in the Haringvliet and had some initial success, I was completely converted and a fishing boat had to be built soon. To this day we don’t regret it for a moment, being on the water and in nature is just one of the most beautiful things to do.
Fishing on the Haringvliet
We fish with all possible lure techniques. Depending on the season, what works at that moment or what is needed we will start fishing. Fishing gear is available but of course you are free to bring your own.
Primary goal is to give you on board with me a fun and preferably unforgettable day, we are going to do everything possible to achieve that.
We set sail in the morning around 8 am at a pre-arranged spot and around 4 pm you will be back on shore.
I enjoy taking pictures and hopefully I may shoot a nice picture of a beautiful trophy as a souvenir.
The fishing boat
We go out with an Orka 560 equipped with a Yamaha 115 hp and the necessary fishing equipment from Humminbird with Minnkota bow motor. The boat offers enough space for 3 or 4 people to be on board and relaxed fishing.
As mentioned earlier, I grew up in Africa and one of the countries I have lived in is Rwanda. In Rwandan, u201cCHOMBOu201d means boat, hence the name chombofishing or boat fishing.
Sea bass fishing
Next to the Haringvliet we have the North Sea where the sea bass hide. This is a special fishery during the summer months and one of my favorites.
However, the difficulty lies in the fact that we are dealing with the North Sea and the weather does not always allow for fishing there. But of course, when the weather permits, we go for it.
